Website design for painters

Painting customers search by surface and suburb — "house painter", "interior painting", "roof painting", "commercial painter". They want to see the quality of the finish and whether you handle interior, exterior, or both. Before-and-after photos are powerful because paint is a transformation trade — the customer can see the difference.

What painters customers need to see before they enquire

  • Before-and-after photos showing the transformation, not just the finished wall

  • Interior and exterior work separated if you do both

  • Surface types you handle — walls, ceilings, roofs, fences, commercial

  • A quote form that asks about surface type, approximate area, and whether it is interior or exterior

NS Painting & Decorating

An elegant and calm design with a genuine six-photo real-projects gallery. The design choice was to keep it restrained — painting is about finish quality, not flash. The gallery shows a range of interior and exterior work so the customer can see the finish quality across different surfaces.

What matters on a painting website that does not matter for other trades

Painting is a transformation trade with a quality dimension. The customer can see the difference between a good paint job and a bad one, so the gallery needs to show finish quality, not just colour. Before-and-after photos sell the transformation. Surface type matters because interior, exterior, and roof painting are different jobs with different preparation and pricing.

Before-and-after gallery

Paint is visual transformation. Before-and-after pairs show the customer what their tired walls could look like, which is the trigger to call.

Interior vs exterior

Interior painting is about finish and detail; exterior painting is about preparation and durability. Different customers, different concerns. Separate them.

Surface preparation

The quality of a paint job is in the prep, not the paint. Show or describe your preparation process — it is the difference between a finish that lasts two years and one that lasts ten.

Colour consultation

If you offer colour advice, say so. Many customers are paralysed by colour choice, and a painter who helps them decide is worth more than one who just shows up with a brush.

Website design pricing

The same pricing applies to every trade. The difference is in what the site needs to do.

  • Single landing page$450
  • One-page website$650
  • Multi-page website (up to 6 pages)$1,400
  • Additional page$180
  • Care plan (hosting, updates, backups, edits)$59
  • Domain$50

The care plan matters more than the build price. It keeps the relationship warm and the site maintained. Added to every quote by default.

All prices are in AUD and exclude GST. Telephony, SMS, advertising spend and third-party software are charged at cost and confirmed in writing before any work begins.

Questions about painters websites

Should my painting website show before-and-after photos or just finished work?
Before-and-after. A finished wall photo could be from anywhere. A before-and-after pair shows the transformation — the customer looking at their own tired walls can see what is possible. That is the trigger to call.
Do I need separate pages for interior and exterior painting?
If you do both, yes. Interior painting customers care about finish quality, tidiness, and minimal disruption. Exterior painting customers care about preparation, weatherproofing, and durability. Different concerns, different pages.
How do I show paint quality in a photo when every painted wall looks the same?
Show the preparation, not just the finish. A photo of surface preparation — sanding, filling, priming — tells the customer you do the work that makes the finish last. Anyone can roll paint; not everyone prepares properly. Show the difference.
Should I offer colour consultation on my painting website?
If you are confident giving colour advice, yes. Many customers delay painting because they cannot decide on colour. A painter who says "we help you choose" removes that barrier. It is a service that costs you nothing and adds value to the quote.
